About Me
I am Susan Blacker, a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) who has been practicing since 2011. I am a client-centred counsellor who believes in meeting you where you are in your mental health journey. I strive to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and genuinely supported. I use a variety of evidence-based counselling practices. My work is formed by family systems, attachment, and narrative therapies, with the understanding that our relationships, experiences, and personal meaning shape our wellbeing. I may also incorporate expressive arts modalities when helpful, creating opportunities for deeper reflection and understanding of self. I have a special interest in working with women navigating all aspects of relationships, including relational self-awareness, friendships, dating, and marriage. I also support women through life transitions such as finding work–life balance and building intentional self-care. I provide support for various life changes such as career shifts, divorce, and menopause. I have additional training in counselling women through menopause. In addition, I have experience helping clients with anxiety and stress management. Using a collaborative, solution-focused approach, I work alongside you to build on your strengths, address your unique needs, and support meaningful, lasting change. Like a rose, your growth has many stages. In counselling, we may start at the bud—where your needs, questions, and pain points are just beginning to take shape. As we work together, you gain insight, skills, and self-awareness, and those parts of you slowly open and unfold. The thorns represent the hard moments, boundaries, and past hurts that can feel sharp, but they also protect what is tender and important. Over time, with care and attention, you move toward a fuller, more grounded version of yourself—your own kind of bloom.
